This year’s Indianapolis Motor Speedway Event is shaping up to be a great time and I am very excited about its future.  Linked you will find the registration form. Please complete this form and mail it to:

Please enclose a check made out to “IMS” for either the $50 or $100 option in order to be included as part of our DeLorean Group registration.

The event will begin at my home (the address above) on Friday May 10 at 3:00PM. This will be a 2-hour technical session focusing on exterior car care.  Mike and Dave from DeLorean Motor Company Midwest will demonstrate refinishing techniques including cleaning, polishing, and re-graining of the stainless. We are also pleased to announce that the President of the BarKeepers Friend, Paul SerVaas, will be joining us. He will be handing out samples of their products, and giving advice on stainless steel maintenance as well as showing us the latest stainless steel care materials available. This session is a must for anyone who wants to make their car’s body look like new. Although this session officially starts at 3 PM, people are welcome to drop by any time after 12:00 noon. Following the technical session, we will meet up at Arni’s Restaurant on the square in beautiful downtown Lebanon for dinner and socialization at 6:00 PM. You will also pick up your registration packets for the next day’s events.

7:30 AM Saturday Morning May 11, we will assemble in the Freedom Church parking lot (2061 Indianapolis Ave, Lebanon, IN 46052). At 8:30 we will hold a MANDATORY Police Escort Briefing for all drivers planning to caravan to the track. Immediately after the Briefing all cars will depart in line, and enter the track and park as a group. The IN-DMC club will provide soft drinks and water. Lunch is available from the many food vendors at the track, [or you may bring in your own lunch cooler (no cooking)].  You may remain at the event as long as you like as the main car show runs all day.

At 5:30 PM we meet back in Lebanon at the Warehouse Restaurant (1206 W South St., Lebanon, IN 46052 www.warehousesportsbar.com) for dinner, prizes and awards sponsored by DeLorean Motor Company Midwest, DeLorean Motor Company (Houston), and BarKeepers Friend.  We are in a private room with a buffet dinner. Cost is $18.95/person + tip, paid at the event. Please RSVP as above.

If you would like to have parts delivered to you at the event with no shipping charge, please contact Julee at DMC Midwest (815.459.6439 or julee@delorean.com) by Wednesday afternoon and she will be happy to bring them to you.

Hello DeLorean Owners and Operators,
Once again it’s time to start planning this year’s car shows and events. After last year’s smashing success of the Indianapolis Motor Speedways Opening Ceremonies, we have been asked to return. Last year was a real learning experience for its organizers and this year we plan on making it a much better experience.  This years event will be held on Friday May 10th thru Sunday May 12th.
From the standpoint of IMS (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) there is a minor change in the format. They are once again offering the lap on the track and the other perks and benefits of last year for the same $50 fee. They are also offering a $100 packet that will include a catered lunch, Pit passes, and access to a VIP tent. INDMC will be supplying soda but lunch will be on the individual.
There will be an option this year of two hotels. The first is the same Holiday Inn Express Lebanon as last year, however due to a local wedding; there will be no “group rate”. There will also be limited to 15 rooms or so, please reserve as soon as possible. The other option is the Comfort Inn in Lebanon. Our negotiated group rate is 79.99 night +Tax. Please tell the attendant that you are with Jason Sharkey for the discount. See below for contact information on these two options.

This year we are adding an additional event to our schedule. Beginning at 3:30pm on Friday, DMC Midwest will be holding a stainless steel graining/cleaning tech session. The tech session will be held at Jason Sharkey’s residence and touch on graining with a flapper wheel, hand graining, blending, and polishing. Next we will be meeting, like last year, at Arni’s in downtown Lebanon, for dinner. There, we will make any announcements pertaining to Saturday and will hand out IMS credentials. Saturday morning we will meet at 8:30 at the Boone County Fairgrounds. If you are arriving to Lebanon Saturday morning please allow a half hour to get IMS credentials. Drivers briefing is at 8:45 and depart for the Motor Speedway is at 9:00 prompt. After a full day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway people can leave at their own discretion. For dinner we will meet at a disclosed location, in the Lebanon area, TBA. This will be the stage for last discussions and goodbyes.

Last year’s attendance of 49 cars was speculator, however, after the response and feedback from people who found out about the event too late (or afterwards) I feel we will have 75 to 100 cars this year. I feel like this event could grow into a supplement to DCS every other year offsetting the 2 year cycle between shows. If this year is a success, we will expand the event to accommodate the number of interested owners and will expand on the tech sessions as well as other DeLorean friendly activities. Please RSVP if you are going to participate in the Tech Session. If you came last year, we look forward to seeing you again! If it’s your first time we look forward to seeing you. I would like to thank all those that participated in our 1st ever Indy 500 event.  The dinner showing was amazing, A HUGE THANKS to Arni’s for taking care of all of us.  Seeing a convoy of DeLoreans farther then you can see the end was an amazing feeling.

The ride around the track was a memorable event, and the heads we turned on the way there, around the track, and though out the day were awesome!

A special thanks to the Wynne and Swingle families for bringing the Electric D and the Stage 3.  I know there was plenty of off site question and answers that were fulfilled over the course of the weekend.  Also, Ken and Dave gave me my first experience in moving a removed engine!

We hope to see all of you at future events and plan on keeping up the pace for the DeLorean movement.  We will be sending a thank you to each of you.  Keep in touch, and send any awesome photos/stories you would like shared on this page!
